MySQL - You must be familiar with writing queries and using JOINs. Knowledge of stored procedures, functions, and normalization is a plus.

Javascript/JQuery - You must be experienced writing javascript code and be familiar with JQuery.

XHTML/CSS - You must be able to write valid XHTML and style it using CSS. Understanding how to style sites to work in all major browsers is a must!

Additional Skills

Flash/Actionscript - Knowledge or experience with Actionscript would be a plus.

Ruby/Rails - Knowledge or experience with Ruby on Rails would be a plus.

Communication:

It is very important that you are willing and able to communicate often and in clear, understandable English. I used to do web design and graphic design as a hobby in college. It's been 5 years since I graduated and now I'm wanting to make a sports-related WordPress site (or a similar type blogging/video site) just for fun, but I have no clue how to do the CSS coding. I am a decent graphic designer so you wouldn't need to do much (if anything) in that regard. I'm developing a Django based CMS and social network platform.
I have the prototype pretty much completed and I'm looking for a web designer to clean up the look and feel of the website.

This will be an open source software to compete with other PHP based CMS and social network websites like Drupal, Joomla, Xoops, Wordpress, etc. It could be a very popular application due to the Django ease of development and use when compared to PHP and other platforms.

Could also be a great opportunity to for you to get a lot of exposure by adding a link to your website design business in the template footers.

The site look will be clean and simplistic, similar to the Facebook interface, not much in terms of graphics, except for user pics and video uploads and maybe some icons and buttons.
Not a flashy website look by any means, just strictly functional. People can develop their own look and feel by creating their own Django templates.

- User registration, login, logout
- Main landing page (dashboard)
- Message compose, read, reply, forward, delete
- User profile with photo/video upload, comments and ratings.

I don't anticipate much in terms of artwork, except maybe some logo, icons and buttons.
The interface is rather clean and simplistic like Facebook style.
I'm mostly looking to replace the table based design with div/span format. Also organizing the layout of the pages and maybe adding some buttons.

The general layout is the typical header/footer with a left/content/right columns format.
I would like the general template to automatically adjust if one of the columns is not given.
So it will auto-adjust if given any combination of center, left/center, left/center/right, center/left columns. Also a generic form template would be nice.

Attached are the the templates I have so far if you would like to get an idea about how the django template system works. It's ok if you rather supply me HTML code as I can easily make the templates out of the HTML code.
