Our company would like to hire on contract several web site designer, developers and graphic designers. We require work to be completed in a timely manner with attention to detail. Contractors have the option to work from home or work at our office; we prefer to meet the contact person at least once face-to-face before the contracted project begins.

Web site developers should be familiar with database driven web sites. We are looking for developers for ASP, ASP.net and PHP with Access, MS-SQL, MySQL database skills. Your skills should include HTML, Javascript, DHTML, CSS, etc.

Web site designers, should have a keen eye for style and the ability to be create mock-ups on the fly. The key role for a web site designer is to design but still have the skill set to think outside the box. For example, if we want to create a web site which uses graphics, you must keep in mind SEO techniques and accessibility for the general public.

For graphic designers, your sole job is to produce web ready images for our designers and developers. We may require additional skills such as logo and stationary design.

Our work is project-based, and each project has varying design requirements. Therefore, our gigs are best suited to freelancers, moonlighters, agency part-timers, or anyone looking for part-time or project-based work.

Your portfolio, knowledge of the subject, and ability to deliver on time is what counts. Don't be shy if you're a student or have a limited CV. If you're good, you're good.

• You're all over the gist of the "web 2.0" design philosophy: attractive, clean, and highly-usable designs. User experience is king!

Assets (but not requirements) include familiarity with CMS' like Wordpress or Joomla, any coding experience, Flash experience, etc. Hopefully you've heard of cufon (or sifr, or any of those).

Important Notes

Although you're welcome to use whatever tools you like for productivity reasons, you must possess the knowledge and skills to be able to work unassisted with an old-fashioned text editor (ie: no dependence on dreamweaver, drag+drop tools, etc). We need true-blue web people!

You must be able to periodically meet with us and work with us in downtown Toronto (College + Spadina). If you've got the talent, we're happy to work around your schedule, including giving up our evenings and weekends as required. Getting that "bang on" design and quality user-experience for apps involves close coordination with developers and we're willing to put in the effort to make sure things are done right.

If your portfolio has items laid out with HTML tables, uses FONT tags, has grossly invalid markup, etc, we don't want to see it. If you're a pro, you'll probably enjoy working with us because we'll appreciate the effort you put in to do a quality job.
