Entrepreneurial Engineer wanted for Web Start Up Team

5 hours 56 min ago

Do you want to get in on the ground floor of a start up and share in the profits rather than just slaving away for somebody else? Are you between jobs, recently graduated or have extra time for coding with your current position?

We are a pair of experienced entrepreneurs seeking a web engineer to round out our start up team. We are developing a fantastic idea in the online game space (both Facebook-Social and MMO) with several proven monetization models involving virtual goods and solving a variety of problems for gamers and game developers/publishers. We have experience raising VC funding, have both worked in this space and have launched and sold successful consumer internet companies in the past. Our goal is to launch and market a prototype site that we can use to raise a round of funding after we have gained some initial traction and started to generate revenue.

Ideally you would work for equity only (come in as a full co-founder) but we might also consider some combination of cash and equity with the right person.

We are looking for someone who preferably has worked in a start-up environment in the past, and has experience building consumer facing websites, preferably working with open source tools, including MySQL, Google Analytics, Bugzilla or Jira, content management systems (Drupal, Joomla), etc.. Ecommerce experience is a plus.

Candidates must have a degree from a top engineering school and have hands-on experience and all relevant skills to handle both back and front end coding (PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript,, AJAX, JSON, XML and JAVA) to start building our portal which will have e-commerce , user-generated content and Wiki elements. This will mostly be a hands-on proposition to start, but we will also bring in interns, contractors, etc. who you will manage.

Please apply with a resume and cover letter explaining why you would be the right person to join our team. Experienced candidates only.

If you are currently an engineering student with limited experience but some of the requisite skills, we would also consider adding you to our team as an intern with appropriate pay and equity. Please add "intern" to the subject line when contacting us.

The role is a part-time position, compensated with equity. We’re flexible on how involved you get, when you work and from where. But let’s discuss all of that up front! The project will likely last about 4 weeks and will likely take about 15 hours a week. Of course, there’s potential for a longer term engagement too. In addition to equity, we’ll share our connections, our hard-earned experience and, if you get into this with an open mind, we will surely find other ways we can help you in the future.

If you're interested…email us.
If you're kind of interested….that's ok, email us with your questions

* You’ve got be fun to work with and like electronica music. There will be mandatory questions on Hot Chip, Neon Indian, and more.

Send through your resume with hourly rate requirements and we’ll chat more. I’m much more interested in seeing the Web apps you’ve built than anything else. We expect this to be approximately a 2 month contract. Students, please don’t feel shy about submitting your info.
