Experienced Graphic Designer (Web and Print) for Renewable Energy Co.
GreenPoint Partners, LLC is a new Chicago-based green energy company. We seek an experienced graphic designer with web, electronic, and print media skills to help us launch our company and build our brand -- from the ground up. Our 10-person team kicks off June 1, 2010, and we will move quickly to develop a website and print collateral.
About Us
We help companies profit from energy efficiency and renewable energy. We identify, simplify, and execute initiatives to take action against rising energy costs, improve cash flow from real estate and business operations, and 'go green'. We provide pragmatic, credible, and unbiased professional services from a team of partners with over 250 years of collective energy, real estate, finance, and legal experience.

You'll be hands-on, in the trenches, building the brand from the ground-up. This is a start-up company that values speed, creativity, and attention to detail. Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity are important. You must be a self-starter that is passionate about taking ownership and delivering exceptional work. This is not a 40-hour/week job, but it will be highly rewarding for the right candidate. You do not need an energy background for this position.

* Preference is to have a designer work from our downtown Chicago office
* However, we will consider applicants from other locations that are otherwise a strong fit
Core Qualifications
* 5+ years graphic design experience, with a strong documented portfolio
* Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML 5, CSS, etc. -- modern web and print design tools

* Compensation commensurate with experience
* You will be a full-time independent contractor for 30-90 days
* If we work well together, we may hire you as an employee
Instructions for Applying
* Read the job description carefully, to ensure that you fit the qualifications
* Email your resume/CV
* Include a link to your online portfolio -- this is essential
* Formal cover letter not required -- short email messages is fine
* Make sure to state your location
Thank you for your interest in GreenPoint. We look forward to hearing from you.
P.S. Unfortunately, we do not sponsor work Visas

Can you design a website that looks like an Ipad app?
If you can, I need you
Im in the process of creating an online CRM software application. Most of those programs are ugly, boring and are not very intuitive, which is why I feel so many people dont actually use them. In fact, most CRM installations fail because sales people just dont like using them.
Fast forward to 2010
Were trying to change that. Besides innovating the actually functionality of the program, Im trying to create something clean, intuitive and elegant. Something that someone will actually WANT to use. Designed and implemented correctly, it could be a ground breaking app.
You might ask, why not just create an Ipad app? Well, we will. But right now were trying to attract as many customers as possible. So starting with a cloud based application and then adding an Ipad app a little later is our strategy.
I know its impossible to re-create the same look and features of an Ipad app in a web based program simply because of the programming language and the specifics of the Ipad hardware. However, were looking to create that clean looking interface with intelligent navigation that I know can be accomplished with CSS with some cool Ajax controls.
To give you an idea of what Im looking for, heres a design company that I love.
http://www.metalabdesign.com/
Check out a few of the sites theyve developed when you have a moment.
This would be a long term project, not just a quick contract job. Besides helping design the user interface of the application, we would then need to create an entire website to promote the software in addition to various fixes, updates and graphics that banners, etc, that would be necessary to promote the application and maintain the site.
I am looking to work with just one person or a small design firm with a couple of people. Like I mentioned above, this is a long term project and I would need your one on one interaction throughout the process.
Please submit a link to your portfolio or to any relevant work that I should consider. Also, please direct me to your past work that most closely resembles the needs of the project. Unfortunately I dont have the time to look through every project youve done so that would be a huge help. Also, before we proceed, I would also need you to create a few html mockups (which I will pay you for) just to get an idea of the direction you would be taking.
Thank you for reading this and considering being a part of this project. Were very excited about this, are very confident in its success and look forward to you being an intricate part of that growth.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Scott Kochman
