As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be responsible for software architecture, code quality and coding standards, design and implementation of new features and mentoring other team members. The Senior Engineer will be expected to call upon his/her extensive experience while effectively collaborating with colleagues throughout the organization. In addition to hands-on design and implementation, there will be elements of technical leadership and effective participation in product planning processes. You will work in the San Rafael office with a small team of engineers including founders of the company.

Job Functions Include:
* Develop and deploy high-performance, high-availability web and e-mail delivery backend infrastructure using Perl and Javascript
* Design and implement client- and staff- facing user interfaces
* Design and document effective software architectures
* Work with other departments to understand product requirements
* Serve as technical lead on a project basis
* Design, define, and perform test processes

Required Qualifications:
* Very strong experience with Perl, Apache, mod_perl, Javascript, HTML/CSS, Linux, SQL
* Excellent communication and organization skills, particularly with email
* 5+ years of experience as a software engineer

Desired Experience working with:
* Protocol-level familiarity with SMTP and/or HTTP
* jQuery and extJS
* Test::More and TAP
* Template Toolkit
* MySQL and DBI
* JSON, XML, SOAP, AJAX
* Version control software (CVS)

Nice to have:
* UNIX system administration skills
* Knowledge of how DNS works
* Knowledge of TCP/IP routing
* Experience with social networking APIs, especially Facebook and Twitter
* Experience working with Amazon Web Services
* Experience working with the Salesforce API
* Experience with Drupal, Joomla or another open source CMS
* HCI/usability training or experience
* Data visualization training or experience
