Seeking web 2.0 design pro for "squeeze" page project! Will pay $$$ (Austin)

Fri, 06/25/2010 - 10:37
We are an emerging publisher of reference-based information products and are seeking a sharp web- 2.0 aesthetic savvy graphic designer with an eye for creating clean, brand-building, sales-focused web pages to design a single conversion-oriented web landing page for an informational reference book that we are launching for sale shortly.
The goal can be described as creating a “squeeze page” because the page will serve as the entire site (no outbound links except to the transaction page for buying the book) and will need to do all of the heavy lifting in terms of both fully informing the web user who lands on it about the value proposition of the product and converting that visitor into a paying consumer. Such a page would effectively prove so informative and professionally attractive that it would “squeeze” the purchase out of the visitor in, ideally, one visit.

SCOPE
As a result, the scope of the job will be to design a beautiful, clean and well branded web landing page that:
• Features a three dimensional graphic representation of the book. Please note that the book will not be offered in a physical three dimensional form factor at first and will only be offered in electronic/ PDF format initially so the designer should have the ability/software to create an attractive realistic-looking 3-D graphic representation of a book (which doesn't exist in real life yet) with a polished book cover. Note: a two-dimensional graphic representation of the cover of the book may be acceptable as well but the preference is for a three-dimensional representation to make more of an impact with site visitors.
• Also features attractive icons/effects such as starbursts, snipes, raised buttons, etc.
• Is clean, attractive and representative of a first-class information publishing brand
• Reflects easy-to-read and attractive copy font
Please note that all of the copy for the web page will be provided to the contracted designer upon taking on the assignment

DESIGN DIRECTION
Reference web pages that are evocative of what the end page should look like can be found via the following links (in order from the top : most preferred to least preferred):

http://www.krakenopus.com/family/saatchi/
http://www.krakenopus.com/family/michaeljackson/

http://the99percent.com/book
http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/
http://us.dk.com/static/cs/us/11/features/ironman/intro.html
http://hayzlett.com/mirror-test

http://www.exploitingchaos.com/
http://www.africanaencyclopedia.com/
http://theharperstudio.com/authorsandbooks/tom_peters/the-book/the-little-big-things/

The end product should be a page that will make for a valuable addition to the designer’s portfolio.

COMPENSATION AND TIMING
We will offer competitive rates and are willing to discuss per hour or flat rate models. We will pay appropriately for talent, experience and capability.
Timing-wise, we would like a designer who is available immediately but no later than June 30, 2010.
If the engagement is completed successfully with satisfaction, there is high probability that we will offer continuous, ongoing work to the designer into the future for additional web property design.

INTERESTED?
If you are qualified, capable and interested, please forward files and/or links to samples of your web design work to the"reply to" address indicated above.
If you could forward to us examples of any web pages that you have designed that are comparable to the scope of this project, it would be greatly appreciated. We will respond to the applicants with the most attractive profiles and examples of work. We look forward to hearing from you!
