Fast growing informal Internet company

Mon, 07/12/2010 - 17:23
We are a small but rapidly growing non-bureaucratic Internet company. We encourage new ideas from everyone and we’re involved in a push right now to take our already successful company to a new level. We have been in business for 10 years. We are in no way to be confused with a cube farm.

We need an experienced full time programmer, a self starter but also a team player. Most of your work would be done remotely but we gather as a team at HQ weekly or bi-weekly. We’re looking for someone who balances passion, intelligence, humor and professionalism.

Here are specific skill sets we’re looking for:

Core Skills:
• Sr. level (5+ years) LAMP developer (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP/Perl) Web
Developer
• Experienced with Javascript, CSS and HTML coding.
• Experience with Javascript frameworks such as prototype and
scriptaculous

Linux/FreeBSD administration experience (less critical:):
• 2 to 3 years system admin experience
• Ability to write, debug bash shell scripts
• Apache administration experience
• Familiarity with enterprise/multi-node hosting systems, e.g. load
balancers, redundancy/failover

We are based in Lambertville NJ, and are looking for someone who can start in early August and lives in the NY, NJ or PA area. If you are in NY, you will come out every two weeks on average.

We need an experienced PHP developer! (SoHo)

Mon, 07/12/2010 - 15:10
We are a rapidly growing interactive agency based in New York City, and we need a freelance PHP developer to help us get through some growing pains.

We are looking for an experienced, self-guided, detail-oriented PHP developer who is comfortable working with some (or all) of the major MVC frameworks (CakePHP, Kohana, CI, maybe a little Zend). If you're a Wordpress, Expression Engine, or Magento addict, this probably isn't the opportunity for you.

The right candidate will be comfortable building sites from the ground up, including mapping out system architecture, developing databases designed for scale and performance, mapping model relationships, and fully comfortable implementing standard performance optimizations (memcached, APC, file system query caching, etc).
Tight client-side development skills (including SEO friendly markup and knowledge of jQuery *copy-pasters need not apply*) are a must.
Experience running Linux servers (usually Debian) over an Nginx / PHP-FPM stack would be great, but not necessary.
Familiarity with developing in a load-balanced environment would be very helpful as well.
And ideally, candidate would be comfortable communicating with clients on rare occasions. If that's a deal-breaker though, we can work around that.
An ability to pick up new things quickly is very important.

Very real potential for full-time employment with benefits if we work well together. It's also probably worth mentioning that most of our projects are for pretty cool brands -- we're not making bank websites or anything like that (not that there's anything wrong with that of course).

We're a young, energetic, and ambitious group.
We have won a number of industry awards in a very short amount of time (including a Webby!).
We work very hard, but we can be pretty flexible. Hours are hours, whether at 2pm or 2am.
We need someone to start pretty much as soon as possible.
We would require working from our SoHo offices a few days a week, but we're pragmatic -- if you can convince us you work faster from home some days, that's fine, as long as home is close by and you can swing into the office on short notice if need be.

NO international staffing agencies!
You must be ON SITE for a good portion of the week.
